Really?  I don't recall it being all that hard, other then maybe the final boss.  Though, maybe I played it on easy?  Personally it's easily one of my absolute favorite Ys games.

I like that the developers wanted to reward folks for experimenting/goofing around in Chronicles.

Should Chronicles incorporate juvenile antics into the otherwise "dignified" Ys legacy?

My 2 centavos: Since the juvenile aspects are only revealed via experimentation, it's no big deal. But, I'll be honest, there is a part of my heart that wishes Adol was 100% pure. Like a goddamned paladin, or something. God, am I really such a predictable, sentimental sponge when it comes to Ys?

Let's see, would that be the tank guy?  I originally played it on PC when it first came out, & found it more challenging near the end IIRC.  But, I don't remember if the PC version has difficulty settings :-k  Well, alot of people do say it's the hardest Ys, for some reason I never considered it all that hard(like...Exile Wicked Phenomenom or Battletoads hard!).  I think there is a way to make the game easier, if you lose to the boss a certain number of times, they give you the option of lowering the difficulty I think?

And, as for the funny business when you shoot enemies, I love it.  I don't mind some humor like that in my games, even in Ys.  Though, come to think of it, I don't think I ever did any fireball shooting in the Eternal/Complete games(both on PC & PS2), nor in the Jp. version of 1 & 2 Chroncles....I don't think I even knew you could do that!  I do know in the PC version of Oath in Felghana, there was some kind of cheat where you could go around slaughtering the villiages or something.  I think you had to modify the save file, but, I think there were also reprussions for doing that, my memory's a bit foggy.

Oath seems hard to me most bosses can kill adol in a few hit's.Btw i'm stuck at the death falcon boss.

Usually if a boss in Oath is kicking your ass (cause they kicked mine plenty) you can grind for a while and level up.  Sometimes just being one or two levels higher will make all the difference.  It sure as hell helped me out.  However the end is pretty decent on the difficulty. (for me anyways, but not overly hard)  I was pretty much maxed out and was having a hard time at the final boss.

Actually, that reminds me of how 1 or 2 levels can make a difference in Ys 1, especially if going up against the bat boss(I forget his name) in the mines!  I pretty much have to level all the way up to level 10(not the Turbo version obviously) to beat that sucker!

The blog is exaggerating the naughtiness.  The "measurements" thing is a funny quirk if you happen to stumble across it, but not anything worth actively pursuing.  Telling people that it even exists spoils the joke, honestly.

I hear you. There were moments that were downright sensationalist, like this:

Quote
In the back of my head, I kept hearing a little voice yelling the words, “Hot Coffee! Hot Coffee! Dear Lord, this could turn into the next Hot Coffee scandal!”

Hot coffee, indeed.

That's probably why i'm having a hard time with oath then.I'm to use to how,the original play for Ys 3 since you didn't have to grind so much to level.Btw i did get pass that boss afther i found the battle armor and i upgraded it all the way.Though i'm stuck again on this part where i have to make the...correct jumps in order to get to the battle saber.

Do you have the option on that allows you to be brought back to the level you jumped from, instead of going further down(if that sentence makes sense...I'm a bit tired)?  That was necessary for me, as the jumps can be hard!

Naw, I mean the thing in the options, where if you fall down a pit, it returns you to where you fell, instead of making you drop to a lower area.  It's almost kind of a hidden option, without booting up the game, I don't recall how to turn it on.
