Is the PSP 2000 the only model with TV Out?  I didn't know that was an option with these.  That's awesome.

Also, can the 1000 natively rip and play PS1 games?  Can the 2000 do this as well?  Another awesome feature.  I'd love to play Jumping Flash on a system like this.

Thanks!

The 3000 & (I believe) the Go have TV out as well.  PSP's are made to run PS1 games, they just run what's called an eboot, I'm sure Sony had this planned all along.  However, to play PS1 games, you either have to buy them for $6 on PSN, or you have to rip it from your own disc & transplant it on a hacked PSP.

It's been awhile since I played around with my PSP 1000, so I don't recall all the specifics, but you can find everything you need to know here courtesy of Exophase: http://forums.exophase.com/forumdisplay.php?f=45

My only complaint with the Crystal is that they only made it in four colors and none of them are as cool as the colors they used for the earlier models (ie: white, clear orange, etc).
I always thought the NGP came in some cool designs that the NGPC didn't have.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

I agree! The white one with red stick and chrome buttons...that one is the best.

Well since a PS game won't physically fit inside any PSP...no, none of them can rip PS games. They can all rip PSP games though (except for the Go, obviously).

As far as which model to get, I think right now the 2000 might be the best. I've heard that custom firmware support is still shaky for the 3000, but I don't know that for sure. The "better" screen on the 3000 is actually worse in the opinion of a lot of people.

They all do TV out. When the 2000 came out it only supported TV out in progressive scan and via component. When the 3000 came out it had an interlaced mode. What a lot of people don't know is that software updates added interlaced support to the 2000 at some point. If there is any advantage to the 3000, I'm not sure what it is.

Lol, I didn't mean to insinuate that the actual PSP did the ripping of the PS1 games.  :P

That's very helpful information.  I'll be keeping my eye out for a 2000.  I've gone a little overboard on purchases recently, but will have to pick one up next time the reserves allow.  Thanks!

One thing I'm puzzled about in regards to the Wonderswan, is the rechargeable battery, it doesn't include the recharger.....so, I have to buy the battery, & then also find a recharger?  I guess I'd be better off just using my own rechargeable batteries I have hear at home.

Oh, & I was looking thru my old NGP accessories, & found the wormlight(Nyko).  I took the wormlight itself can be taken off the charger it's attatched to, & used on a Wonderswan!  It plugs right into what I assume is the communications port, & ....it lights up!  So, I guess if I'm desperate for light, atleast I already have one, though, getting it atleast modded with a front-lit I'm sure would be better.

Oh yeah, games!

I don't have a huge collection, I don't even have a particularly decent one. I do like One Piece Battle Colosseum, Magical Drop (much better than the NGP one, even if it is in b/w), the three Gundam "Vol" games (Jaburo, Side 7, A Boa Qu) and Densha de Go.

If you can handle some serious Japanese I can recommend "Wild Card". Its a fantasy card battle type of thing with extremely good art. Blue Wing Blitz is a nice looking (but a bit monotonous) strategy game kind of like Advance Wars or Super Robot Wars.

Speaking of which, there are several SRW games on WS, but they are more like the stuff from the Winky Soft era than the newer "Holy shit, best 2D EVAHR!" era stuff. The GBA games are better for most people.

EDIT: I forgot Final Fantasy I. If you are really into this game the WS is the best port of this game ever, IMO. It plays like the NES/FC original in that its harder and still has the D&D style spell system instead of a Magic Point based system, but it has way tuned up color graphics, nearly SFC quality. If you can enjoy a RPG purely for the RPG mechanics of leveling and such, get it. Its the most fun I've ever had with a "grind" sort of game.

EDIT x2: There is some kind of Digimon RPG-ish thing for WS that was released in English. I can't remember the the name. I thought you might want to know that.

I so wish there was a makaimura in color. The b/w one anyhow is still my mosty fav game on that device.

No shit. The WS has one significant thing in common with the PC Engine. That is, the earlier software represents a larger selection of genres. By the time the superior hardware came out, nearly everything had devolved to menu-driven ota crap like chick sims and anime licenses.

That isn't to say that later WS/PCE games aren't any good, but there is a wider selection from the earlier time period, and unfortunately that means b/w (or in the case of the PCE, HuCard only).

Mainly interested in action & puzzle games.  I can't get myself to get too many RPG's since I don't speak any japanese, though, action rpg's might be fine.  The only game I have so far(which, I don't have yet, I'm bidding on some more stuff from the same seller) is Tane wo Maku Tori.  I know I've played it via emu, but can't remember if there was an english name.  There was also some cutesy ninja type game that seemed fun.

One Piece, is it a fighting game?  Seems like there are severel One Piece games as well as Digimon, so it's hard to know which one is which.  I think atleat one of the Digimon games was some sort of fighting game.  You say there's an english Digimon RPG though?  Normally I wouldn't care, but, since it's the Wonderswan, I'd pick that up.  I'd like to find the color Gunpey as well.  I'd like to get Golden Axe, but it seems slightly rare.  I've spent way too much money lately so I'm trying to cut back.  I was trying to get Gransta Chronicle, I think I heard it was an action rpg, but I was outbid.

I did try Wild Card, & it does have really nice art, but, couldn't get interested in the game itself.

I can't remember which Digimon has an English version. I shouldn't be that hard to research. I'm pretty sure its the only English WS thing other than the Wonderborg and the manual that (sometimes) comes with a WS system.

There are several One Piece games for WS, but One Piece Battle Colosseum is the fighter. It was the basic template for later One Piece games on DS and ultimately Jump Super Stars/Jump Ultimate Stars.

I bought a Digimon game........& I thought it was the english one, but now I'm starting to doubt it.  After doing more research, it looks like there may have been a japanese version & english version.  I guess I'll find out when it arrives.

BTW, someone I think mentioned I should get an ac adapter.....but I'm looking at my Crystal.......where the heck would I plug it in?  Is it maybe some kind of proprietary thing that plugs in where the battery goes??
