There's always a lot of discussion on MMORPG forums about men playing women/women playing men etc. I think the answer is that some people are fine with it, some are not. That's just how things are. The End.

yeah some people are just not very secure with their masculinity. Playing games like Valis or Fasuette Amour or Wonder Momo......Sailormoon games even......doesn't make you any less of a man.....or more of a woman hehe

I play as girls in a lot of games.  They fit my play style.

In alot of beat em ups, the girl is quick.  Or fighters, Chun Li is quick.  Ryu is slow.    Kasumi is fast, all the dudes are slow (except Ryu).  I like moving around quickly.  I could never be the Warrior in Gauntlet.  I was the elf.  If he had been a chick it wouldn't have impacted my decision.  If the warrior was a chick, it still wouldn't.

Other games only have girls!  Like Fausette, Steal Princess, Izumi...   it doesn't stop me from playing them.  I don't mind.  As long as the games ok.  I don't care.

Ive got chicks on MMOs.  I have dudes also, but its nice to have variety instead of big burly dude 100% of the time.

Admittedly, I have a cat on FF14.  If there was a male gender for them, I definitely would have been male though.   Sucks theres ONLY females.

Now back to the game here, I think its realistic actually.

If a chick with tits that big in real life was running around in that silky dress, her tits would be all the f*ck over the place just like that.  I had gym in high school, I saw all the big breasted girls getting wacked in the chin during basketball by their own rack.  And that was in a tshirt!

I don't give two squirts what gender character I control in a video game.   Chun-Li is easy on the eyes, E. Honda is not, Ryu looks cool.  Stopping to think about it much more than that is kind of weird and might indicate the need for some personal reflection.

As far as the Dragon's Crown art, I agree with Zeta.  It's overly fetishized.  IMO, fetishized to the point of being stupid, bad art.  Everything from the sorceress' boobs to the dwarf's shoulders have been exaggerated to the point of caricature.  Personally, I like a little more realism and/or room left to the imagination in my fantasy characters.  I'll take 1970's D+D art with its dumb bell-bottoms over new-school, half-demon/drow elves with septum piercings and over-sized, serrated, two-handed swords any day.

while it looks like something that might be worth Downloading the demo of, it looks like a slightly better animated flash game you can find on newgrounds.

I prefer playing games as female characters. But I don't consider them an avatar of myself in real life. It's just a game.

I also don't mind watching films or shows with female leads.

If people are really worrying about how the character design looks, then that's their problem.  It doesn't make a game bad when it's your own personal opinion.  I don't see too many people really worrying about the character art style that much.  I think the game looks freaking fantastic.  Vanillaware has always had the same character artist all the way before it was Vanillaware doing Princess Crown.  I think the game is going to be a nice beat em up that is severely lacking in this day and age.  People are making to big a deal about it when no one has even played it.  Looks like it will be fun to me.  It is a beat em up though and could get monotonous like quite a few.  Hopefully there will be enough gameplay to break up the monotony that a beat em up usually has.

I wouldn't call that exactly 2D, but I have to admit it looks quite le OK.

"Not quite 2D"

You know, ever wonder in what weird age we live in ?

Uhhh...that shit is way too fetishized and gross. Even Frank Frazetta would want to slap me if I owned something like that.

LOL

...but I think it looks pretty good.  Although I prefer when games let you choose the gender of your class.  I refuse to use a woman in a video game.

Yeah, men who play as women are just creepy...

And of course the right is also the superior game.

......What, it's true !

I had gym in high school, I saw all the big breasted girls getting wacked in the chin during basketball by their own rack.  And that was in a tshirt!

Go on...... :P

Let's say "senior year" gym class, so that way it is less creepy.

haha I had a similar experience except I was in the 6th grade. One day this girl came to school wearing a muscle shirt (you know like a regular over sized tee with the sleeves cut off) and she was not wearing a bra or anything for that matter underneath so everything were hanging out and out in the open. Come to think of it I am surprised my teacher didn't send her home for that! hehe

How old was she ?

I'm kind of confused by the american grading system.

6th grade would be 12 or 13 years old.

I'm looking forward to it, but my friend will be picking it up and I'll play over at his house since I'm PS3-less.
