This game was hyped so much that I haven't heard much about it.

Coming from you, I'm not surprised.  lol

Unless its a serious departure from previous games the graphics will be beautiful but the level design nonexistent and the pacing a sophocating slog.

Yeap.  That's about right.

Even my girlfriend, who doesn't play beat-em-ups to reference it with said "This game's really dumb.  Everything is just a pretty looking jumbled up mess.  Why did you buy this."

Then I put the D&D game in for Saturn and she went "This is way older but less retarded.  How'd that happen."

It's true. I pay very little attention to modern gaming.

Classics never "age."

That's capcom's beat 'em up at its best. Well at least arcade wise, I've never played the Saturn version. The only thing better would have been a CPS3 version with maybe a few minor additions to the play mechanics. Maybe.

Sounds like this game, for me, can wait a few months.

yeah.  It's not a good game.  Alot of dipf*cks on the internet are raving about how good it is, and they've probably never played the D&D beat em offs or anything, so they have skewed perceptions of what's a good fantasy RPGish beat em up.

The game has garbage pacing, obvious triggers for enemies, incoherent messes of boss battles, and a bunch of big jiggly tits.

Sadly, style before substance seems to be growing more and more common (not just with games either).  Was this game perhaps made by watermelonheads?

Strange.... that's what people say about me after talking to you.  :P

I've only played Princess Crown, which was very gorgeous and had pretty good gameplay. However it went on far too long and ended up feeling repetitive. I enjoyed it enough to want this game though.

This game was hyped so much that I haven't heard much about it. Instead I get Grand Theft Auto 5 coverage non-stop because that's the status quo. But I've heard that this game "f*cking sucks". So I've got a copy coming in this week. Should I play it or should I smash my face into a wall for an hour? Which f*cking sucks less?

Play Renegade on the NES and forget about these new-fangled games:

This game was originally created for Vita, and then was decided to make a ps3 port with the Vita mechanics.  Problem is a couple things with the "gameplay" use the touchscreen.  So for ps3 owners they have to use the R analogue for moving around and clicking on shit.  It really makes the pace of the game terrible, and I see where Ark is coming from.  However the game certainly is not complete shit, f*cking blows, is retarded (which shouldn't be used since the definition doesn't mean "dumb") it's just certain bad choices for some game mechanics.  Some things like opening treasure chests should have just been done with walking up to them.  If you always have someone with you to open doors then what's the point.  If it's always available to you to go and open anything than just let the main character do it.  The game sure has it's faults, but being a Princess Crown fan I really like it.  I also don't compare it to Capcom's D&D and certainly don't know why it's being compared to an arcade game.

The Vita release doesn't seem all that well optimized though. It suffers from slowdown that's nowhere present in the console release, the touch screen is a nice trade off.

I don't own it but I have to say it looks pretty damn good to me. I saw the FGC stream some multiplayer and the combat looked like it had a lot of depth to it for a beat em' up. Like the above I am also a Princess Crown fan and know what I'm getting into as far as repetition goes.

For me though I have to say this is probably the least attractive art style I have seen Vanillaware use. I don't really like the western influence on all the characters, the Amazon is just an eyesore in particular. Princess Crown, Odin Sphere, and Muramasa were all much better looking games.
