You might enjoy some of what was posted here: https://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=16418.0
There's another thread out there somewhere with a bunch of em, too.
Nice setup, btw! I'm in the process of re-doing my gaming area and will share soonish.
Oh thanks for that! I tried searching before posting but must have missed that, much appreciated.
Edit: Now that I look, I did check out that thread before  Old man memory strikes again.

Hey guys, I got it from http://www.wayfair.com/Tier-One-Designs-Audio-Rack-TDD1014.html

Yeah, that's a very slick little set of shelves. My current setup makes anything that is a top loader a pain to get into.

Thanks! The unit actually had to meet a bunch of criteria to work for me, as you said had to be able to access top loaded systems, had to be well ventilated, and had to support the behemoth of a receiver I have on the bottom, all while looking decent enough to use in the living room. this thing managed to do all of that, and wasn't priced too badly. The one thing I really dislike about it is the bottom rear leg is actually a single piece of wood that could have been better constructed by the mfg. Though in truth it's not a problem if you don't move the unit itself.

Why so many system cards? I actually have two gaming rooms, one for the laseractive (along with my gigantic super atx tower) and the rest in my second bedroom. Pics to follow shortly. :P
-
I have a big love for those cards since day one :)
can't describe exactly. but I only buy them when finding them very cheap like 1 to 2 dollars.
it's a form of hoarding i know, but what can I do? just love them so much ^^"

oh I treat dem very well, my dear :D
one thing I have to add. they are of absolute no gaming value, except maybe the sys 1.0 and only if you're counting altered beast CD of course as some kind of gaming pleasure.
that's also the reason why I don't collect any sys hueys 3.0. because these are of gaming value and gamers should have them and should not be hoarded somewhere ^^
and btw. I have only about three 1.0 ers.
-
Dirty, covered in price tags, and sleeveless sounds like neglect to me. Poor lil hueys.
-
I just try to keep them as I had found them :)
at least they're all gathered together and have some huge fun that way ^^

All three of the Transformers are part of the MP line. I have more but I keep them in a different case (I have the whole MP 1984 Decepticon line up)
I love my Turbo rack :D I went out looking for a CD case for them and I found this super sexy thing at a thrift store for $12. The insides are padded so they don't scratch the cases. It is also heavy and very sturdy.
Some Genesis gems I would recommend would be Punisher, Task Force Harrier, Robocop vs the Terminator, Battle Squadron, Batman 89, Blades of Vengeance, Desert Demolition Starring Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote, Gargoyles and The Terminator (the first one)
Don't laugh but the game currently in my AES is Ninja Combat lol.
I have a loose complete Foot Solider to play with so no worries about the plastic coffin :)
Thanks for the comments guys :)

Lol, I love those boxes for paper reams. They are perfect for storing (not shipping) stuff, and those slide on lids are perfect if you need just a bit more space than the actual box allows.

STATUS: I continue to be insanely jealous of entire rooms dedicated to video games.
That is all.
NO, I also wanted to say I love that Maxell ad! I remember that in the magazines. I used to buy Chrome and Metal tapes hoping they would sound better (my deck had a setting for chrome/metal, but I never really could tell if it made a difference).
TDK was nice, too. My favorite brand was Maxell, with their thick foil labels on the cassette itself. Very nice to look at, and could deflect shrapnel during a military attack on civilian population.

Nice sound setup, TV seems a bit dwarfed by it all, though!
Funny story, relating to older systems, played really loud on certain speakers. About 10 years ago, I was playing through one of the Bomberman games, I can't recall if it was the first, 93, or 94. Anyway, it was at night, and not exactly loud, but louder than "Normal" volume, on something other than TV speakers.
I later heard a neighbor at the time could hear it, and thought it was Pac-man. It took a moment, but then I realized Bomberman also has a repetitive sound whenever you walk.

Gameplay reminds me of tempest. Also, I feel like I've played it before, I know the name, perhaps if I would've looked a little closer at the pic instead of horsing around I would've read the name on the cab. lol

man that brings back some memories. My sister and I played the hell out of gyruss when we were kids. It was one of our favorite games in the arcade at the bowling alley, and we were always there because pops was a big bowler. Wish there was an obey version of this game!
I played a ton of Gyruss in the arcade when I was a kid as well. Such a cool game, and loved the music as well.
-
I had the NES version of Gyruss as a kid. I thought is was alright but nothing special.

Me to ...
I never knew of it or played it as a kid when it originally came out but a few years ago I was at a retro game store in Corpus Christi TX and I asked what games one of the workers would recommend..
and Gyruss was the game offered up along with a few others...I tried them out and knew at $5 Gyruss was the game for me...but I bout the $8 "boxed" verson....I say "boxed" because the box was beat to hell and back, but still......cheap boxed NES games.....what's not to love?
-
I also love NES Gyruss. Had to Konami code to finish it, but I had a great time. The boss fights & improved music are welcomed additions.

Working on unpack and still moving into the new city and apartment. This time we got a two bedroom for when family friends and such come to visit. But it will also be my de facto gaming setup.
Sigh so much left to do. Clean. Organize. And game. Unfortantly I am still in the old apartment and xity as I wait for my transfer to be apprived. So I am only able to be in the new apartment on weekends.

I saw this hue and I mean HUGE crt tv at a local Goodwill yesterday for $30. I honestly questioned if I bought it would it fit in my SUV which is a Chebey Traverse. If it is still there next weekend (it was in the new city as I am still living in the old apartment in Victoria. I may buy it.
My fears are
A) it wont fit in the SUV
B) it wont fit in the apartment
C) it wont let me play light gun games due to being a flat screen crt tv. It is freaking huse tube "bubble butt" tv. I want to say a Sony brand with what looked like a 54 inch screen. I should have taken a pict of it.
-
For $30 go for it.
-
For $30 go for it.
Thar was my thinking. I suspect that due to size they figured no one would have the means to transport it out of the store lol. So they just slaped on a $30 price tag.

I don't recall seeing many CRT TV's above 32 inches. Usually, after that size, things would jump into Rear Projection. I've never heard of a CRT TV at 54 inches.
Rear Projection usually took over for CRT TVs, starting at 42 inches or so. If this is a CRT RPTV, the cabinet will split. I helped move last year a 57 inch CRT RPTV, we split the cab, and both pieces fit inside a Ford Excursion.
A lot of these CRT RPTVs last a very long time, and they play well with older consoles.
So, if this is a Rear Projection TV, remember the cabinet will split in half, usually just need a Phillips head screwdriver. Also, instruction manuals can be found online for the different models, and those manuals have all the disassembly instructions you need.
Good Luck!
-
I used to haul 'em around for a repair shop, and I don't remember many rear projections coming apart. Many have removable light boxes, though, so you can at least easily remove a lot of weight from the bulky part.
-

The cabinets usually split in half, upper half and lower half.
The one I moved into the Excursion last year was a Toshiba 57HX94.
There may be some older ones that didn't split, heck, the REALLY old ones were open, not enclosed (Look inside a Sears Wishbook from the early-mid 80s), but all the ones I've encountered and moved, and owned, the larger ones, split in half so you could move it into a house, vehicle, service it, etc. Those RPTVs got large, 65 inch, 72, 80...
.
-
I quit doing that job right around 2000, so perhaps it's common on newer stuff, especially those with plastic cabinets and lcd/dlp light boxes.
-
I quit doing that job right around 2000, so perhaps it's common on newer stuff, especially those with plastic cabinets and lcd/dlp light boxes. I've literally moved hundreds of 'em prior to then, so I can say with some authority that the earlier ones did not come apart.
I had to run a search to see what RPTVs did not split. It seems to be the smaller ones. I don't have much experiences with RPTVs smaller than 57 inches. Most of the Toshibas and Mitsubishis came apart, but only above a certain size. Once you got to 57 inches, 65, 72, etc, they pretty much had to split, otherwise they weren't going to fit through many doorways, through stairs, etc. I know of someone who got a Mitsubishi RPTV, 72 inches or so in 2001, I know that split, also.
This was not a DLP unit I moved. it was a Toshiba 57HX94. DLPs I don't know much about moving, other than they are not as deep.
So, Medic, if it is a RPTV, take note of the brand, and model number, look for a manual online, and see if it's a cabinet that split.

-
hehe yes :)
we have another PC that i use too sometime but id say that 95% of the time
im sitting there. It looks smaller but its actually a 60" :-"
-
Escarioth, you have a nice clean setup there. I like it, sometimes when people post pics, they're a cluttered mess. Lots of video game stuff, all over that room.
I only have some of my video game stuff displayed. All of my systems have black rags or dust covers on them, so even if someone is near the TV they are plugged into, they don't stand out. Just some electronic thing covered up
I have lots of framed posters on my walls, so that eliminates some space that I could use for shelves, anyway.
Escarioth, what's the table normally used for?

I'm all moved in to my new place...
Looks fun, what tis that game?

I'm really not judging you, since I'm pretty sure you are young, but DAMN, THAT BE GYRUSS!
Such a great game, VenomMacbeth!
I am so envious!
TANGENT (file under "under-appreciated games"): I don't understand why Gyruss isn't a modern-day champion...it plays so fast and nice (as always) and has aged so nicely, which can't be said for a lot of 80's arcade games.
BONUS: the NES port of Gyruss has a warm place in my heart since I rented it frequently and was addicted to it! ADDICTED.
ADDICTED.

this one side of my basement.
Nice stuffed Kirby. I wish I had a couple Turbob related stuffed animals, like maybe Bonk or Bazzy.

Yes, lights are a very nice touch. I should probably post a pic of my gaming closet one of these days. Will have a whole room someday...

Those color changing LED things are nice. I have a strip, Sylvania Mosaic. I like it, because I can choose the length I want, and it's still interchangeable with the RGB LED strip stuff out there. I have in coiled under a sofa, so if I want light, I can use it. I have a bias light behind the TV on remote also, but that's not LED, it's an older fluorescent model, but it gives off a really nice white light (ISF approved, or something.).
The computer monitor has a bias light also, but it's the newer LED type, still only white light, though.
During Halloween, I will use the same color red, but on a RGB LED bulb that fits in a normal socket. I'll probably also be cranking out the window a Halloween sounds cassette at some point. I haven't done that, nor heard that, in many, many, many Halloweens.

I love the plush Kirby. I have one as well but mine is smaller.

Also, Escarioth, I notice it in your Red LED photo, but those cables on the floor, between the recliner and sofa, they're not always out there like that, waiting for people to trip over them, are they?
If so, get some cord channel. You can find 6ft rolls of it in the normal chain home improvement stores. Online also, but I had bad experience buying what seemed like, "Stale" cord concealer before.
Anyway, the good stuff, it's a rubbery plastic, cut the length you need, feel the cables into it, then you have something for the high traffic area, that will keep the cords for tripping a person. Also, (good) cord concealer is heavy, so it stays put.

Ah yes, those meddling cords :-k we moved last year in this new house and the set up i made is rather diferent. so i ended up having those hanging around between 2 couch. Thanks for the info , ill look into this ...it be quite a disaster if my wife fell on the floor with our baby in her hands.

Here, I am including a link to what I use. Not this brand, but the type.
http://www.amazon.com/Wiremold-CDB-5-5-Feet-Corduct-Protector/dp/B000BVXVTK
I use this stuff in a few places around the house, where I either didn't want to/couldn't run something through a floor or wall, or it was a short run across a walkway. This stuff works fine on Carpet, Linoleum, Tile, Harwood, etc.
I recommend looking in a home improvement store, as it was cheaper there, last time I bought some.
Avoid the Belkin Brand. it's lighter than other brands, and is less flexible so it doesn't grab cords as well.

Added a pic of my figures case to the OP.

Just look up a picture of a 30" dildo spinning around.
That's my setup.

I just moved, and I managed to get everything I really needed into this little corner here. Games are in a chest of drawers behind me. Also, every cart system has an everdrive to go with it.
The systems. N64 teeters precariously on the PS3, but it works. The 32X is in purgatory behind the SNES because everdrive+X'EYE+32X = dysfunction for certain games. The lower right is an ungodly mess of wires, but every system is hooked up and playable with the touch of a button or two, and most systems (all that need it) can be routed to the tate TV with the twist of one dial.

It's the best gaming setup I've ever had. Now if only I didn't have to work six days a week...

Here is my messing setup, hopefully someday soon i will clean it up. I just recently in the last 5-7 weeks got back into retro gaming. So i had to purchase all these systems from ebay/amazon, except for the sega genesis/cd, which i still had. And my friend gave me his SNES since he had no use for it anymore.

I'm going to update my original post as my set-up has been changed!
I just received a Micomsoft Selecty 21(!!), which I've added for use with my Duo-R and Sega Saturn.
I also added a PlayStation TV to play Vita games on my TV (Don't hate!)
I've also change out the case that holds my figures (Same design, just a different color), and added an additional case because of overpopulation.
My living room is a bit of a mess so once I build the remainder of the Ikea furniture I'll snap some pics.
-
This is setup No.2 in the bedroom. I had this TV spare just sitting in that cupboard doing nothing. I also had a Wii with retroarch on and a Classic Pro Controller so set it up for some bedroom gaming when I'm not downstairs.

Hello, I bought it from here: http://www.wayfair.com/Tier-One-Designs-Audio-Rack-TDD1014.html
Quality is not the best, but price and design make up for that in my opinion.
-
Finally got around to taking a pic. I'll also add this to my initial post as well.
New additions to my setup are:
Sega genesis Model 1
Micomsoft Selecty 21
Sony PSTV
