Pretty much this.  I haven't gotten around to picking up a  PS3 or a Wii yet (don't know that I ever will), and these new consoles aren't doing anything for me.  There isn't a single compelling reason to pick either one of them up.

I'm obviously only being half serious here; there's tons of good stuff released every year.

BUT - I see videos of stuff like MGS5 and FFXV and just say "wow that looks cool. I'll never have 70 hours to play through it though."

I primarily use my PS3 as a media center anyways, so what Microsoft is doing with XBone actually appeals to me.

Still taking a wait and see approach to the next gen - my PS3 backlog of games is about 20 deep.

Also, I need to explore more Wii/Gamecube games on my old Wii. I've never played a Metal Gear game, so I bought Twin Snakes. Hopefully I can also try out Resident Evil 4 eventually.

MGS1 is a g'damn masterpiece. It's one of those games that I had no qualms about playing through 3, 4, 5 times to completion. Can't speak for Twin Snakes but the original game on PS1 can be had for a song on eBay (maybe $15 or so).

Same with RE4 - must own! But get the GC version, not the Wii one.

Yup, their core franchises is where it is at for sure, and I am actually kinda excited about Bayonetta. Also after seeing some E3 stuff, the vita is starting to look a bit better. Not much, but better than when it launched. I hope to get a Wii U come Xmas.

after owning at some stage or other almost every major console released in pal region (except for the amiga line which my parents couldnt afford at the time! and they are gouged on ebay now) i think ive had enough of keeping up to date
xbox one and ps4 doing nothing for me dont feel excited
majority of games are cross platform on ps/xbox anyway

I just went to the Nintendo E3 at Best Buy. Only an hour wait. Mario 3D World is a great 4 player game, but you can only try one level and one game. I also got to pick a flimsy foam Luigi hat as my prize.

I went today too.  After 30 minutes I was able to watch the demos of all 4 games (DK, Mario 3D, Mario Kart, and Wind Waker) and I was sold.  Mario Land 3D is the best 3DS game hands down, cant wait to play more of the same.

I didn't get to play anything, because we signed up and the line wouldve been at least 90 minutes, though probably closer to 2 hours.  The thing was poorly planned, with 1 demo station and playtimes of 10-12 minutes per game.  The group playing Mario 3D finished their level and they said "you want to play another?"  Doesnt make sense with a huge line...

However, I got 2 free Luigi 30th anniversary coins which are awesome, some Mario Kart flags, Luigi hats, and some Wii U booklets for free.  There was also free coffee from the Kurig on display.  Overall, can't complain too much...  hope this happens again next year with maybe 2 to 4 displays at least.

I missed out on going to the best buy Wii u E3 thing. i had to practice KOF 13 that day for EVo coming up. I pre ordered a ps4, but i am not excited for it or the xbone. I pre order the ps4 just incase i change my mind. But i am happy with the Wii U and this holiday season will have some good games to get for sure.
