Metal Gear NES,sure it's not faithful to the msx original but i don't think it's a bad game at all.
Back in the day, I don't think many people would have considered this "shitty"
It certainly was enjoyable and refreshing to play through, and anyone who liked Konami knew that "Ultra" was somehow connected to Konami. Somehow.
Konami and Ultra were brands I could trust, it was rare that I ever felt like I wasted my money with their offerings.
Which brings me to a game that really was considered "shitty", especially by Konami's standards:
Bayou Billy — I don't know if I can say I truly enjoy the whole game enjoyable (the beat-em-up stages are tedious, and I am sick of the early stages), but I really like the driving/shooting stages, and the overall atmosphere of the game (mostly delivered by the beat-me-stages, ironically) to be pretty convincing and refreshing.
That said, I am still disappointed by this game, even after all these years.
No, I haven't played the Japanese version yet.
...but I still find *some* enjoyment, despite all the pain I suffer, and that's why it belongs in this thread.
