Hello all. I was just wondering if either The Legend of Heroes 2 or any of the Cosmic Fantasy games are in the works, translation wise. And if not, I thought I'd throw those ideas into the ether.

Yes, you have our permission to begin translating them.

Thank you.

Yes, permission/support granted. :)

But in all seriousness, David Shadoff had begun work on Cosmic Fantasy 1, so you could talk to him if you felt you could help. I actually took over his Emerald Dragon project years back given he was willing to offload stalled projects due to lack of free time and having tried to take on too many perhaps.

So generous of you to volunteer! Thank you.

After playing Cosmic Fantasy 2 though, I don't think we need any more of those in the English speaking world.

Each sequel is radically different.

So... We now know why they call you "Crazy", but tell me: why do they call you "Dean"? Where does that come from?

Either I am the dean at my college, or it's the name my parents gave me. I'll let you figure out which is the truth.

Also, I found the story of CF2 pretty engaging. The gameplay was pretty boring. Magic was useless for the first two-thirds of the game. Supposedly there was chance of poison but I never got it through the whole game.

I'm just surprised that there hasn't been a translation ( or an attempt at one ) since it's the one game and has a strong, cult fanbase. I understand that Zero and Ao are being worked on, so, it would be nice to see the second game of the original duology get translated.

Also, I didn't suggest that I would translate or help translate. I don't have any computer skills, really. Just a gamer who wanted to ask a question about some games he likes.

Don't worry, Alagor, everyone's just messing around.

Cosmic Fantasy 4 episode 2 is supposed to be pretty good, and IIRC, the text is supposed to be uncompressed SJIS. It definitely makes the list of games I'd like to work on if I ever find the time. On the other hand, it might have a ton of unsubtitled voice acting, and believe me, dub projects are a total pain in the ass.

Stay tuned for Legend of Xanadu 1 and 2, though. We're almost done with them, I swear.

And so, you probably have no idea of just how many hundreds or thousands of man-hours of hard work go into reverse engineering a complex videogame and translating it.

Whoever takes on that task needs to have a real passion for that game in order to put that much effort into it.

Then you might want to suggest the possibility of doing a translation to the folks in the "strong, cult fanbase".

Until some selfless white-knight steps forward, folks here will just have to suffer the horrible "2nd-best" of getting translations of Falcom's own unique-to-the-PCE "Dragon Slayer: Legend of Xanadu" 1 & 2 games, rather than Hudson's port of the older-and-ported-to-everything (and frankly, less sophisticated) "Legend of Heroes II" game.

Yeah ... we need be careful with statements like that!

I think that I've somehow managed to commit myself to at least 2-or-3 months of darned lip-sync fixups, even after all the audio is mixed and inserted!  ](*,)

I was thinking about joining in the joke, but I left it too long and then both NightWolve and SamIAm were kind enough to reply sensibly.

Too late to join in and keep up the joke after that.

Calm down, cock body. Was just asking a question. You act like you freed us all from the Matrix. I didn't try to Catfish your mother so focus your nerd rage on someone else.

Hey CA-RRRAAAAZZZZYYY Dean, your mind is a soft trail of forgotten breadcrumbs.

And for the rest of you muppet-fisting f**k wagons; Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes 2, Cosmic Fantasy 1, 3, 4-1, and 4-2. Get on it. NOW.

I've posted on numerous sites about how Alagor is working on translating Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes 2, Cosmic Fantasy 1, 3, 4-1, and 4-2. That way no one else gets in his way. Better step up.
