I really want to play Knuckles Chaotix. For some reason I skipped it back during the short period that the 32X was current. Maybe they didn't have it for rent in my town or something. :-k

Hey I always thought Sonic Spinball was pretty cool! It's slow, but unique.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

I can't even play it.  Everything about the game disgusts me.  Talk about "dirty graphics".

Same here.

Although I'm hesitant to buy a 32X just to play it.

And anyone who doesn't like Sonic CD is clearly a douche!

There is one huge problem with Sonic CD: no spin dash. I wouldn't have missed it except I had already played Sonic 2, and now for me a lack of spin dash just drags the game into the ground.

I own the GameCube re-release of Sonic CD and I am spin-dashing all over the place right this very moment!

Are you telling me this is something they added back in special for the GC version? I've never played "actual" SEGA CD version since I've never owned a SEGA CD so I guess it's feasible. But following that logic, why didn't they include the spin-dash in the Sonic 1 GameCube re-release?

And I agree, I find Sonic 1 hard to play these days because of the lack of a spin dash.

There is a spin-dash in Sonic CD (it doesn't look the same as in the later games though) and there is also the useless "stand-dash".

The first Sonic is definitely a masterpiece, its weird how Mario got better and peaked at 3 or 4 depending on your preference, while Sonic just got worse and pretty much bottomed out at 3 or CD (just talking pre-playstation era).

ya, there are two different dashes in sonic cd, the spin dash and the stand dash, like keranu said. I actually prefer the super cool stand dash  That game rules, people who dislike it should give it another try. Did you guys know that you can time travel and save the future; wow, cool.

I think mario got better with 3, but 4 was just ok. I think that sonic 3 was a freaking master peace, seriously, you can save go crazy with jewels and beat up knuckles. You can also play as either sonic, tails or knuckles, wow. and when you connect it with sonic and knuckles, you expand the gaming experience and it gets even better. You can even gather even more emeralds and become teh most awesome Hyper Sonic  8)

Yeah agreed about Mario. Though I must admit, I was a sucker for Sonic 3 when it first came out and still am! Of course no Sonic will be able to touch the spirit of the original.

for me, i like the 1st sonic the most as well. was just a great game at its time and a good alternation to all those slow mario & co. J'n'Rs. the BGM in the 1st was the best as well (starlight zone, what a great tune. hear it somtimes around some ufo-catcher here in the arcades). the next sonics couldn't reach that level again, although the better graphx and gameplay elements here and there.

I would FREAK OUT if someone performed Starlight Zone as a disco mix with real instruments...
