'retro duo'
« on: January 09, 2008, 05:03:35 AM »
http://kotaku.com/342737/knock+off-console-plays-real-genesis-snes-sega-games

More NES/Genesis clones, this time (allegedly) legal. Normally I wouldn't bring this up, but the color scheme on the retroduo is very TurboGrafxish.

I recently purchased an FC Twin for under $50 all-in.  It plays both NES and SNES carts and so far I have been very impressed.  I bought a bunch of (very) used NES carts from an old game store and they all booted up fine on the first try.

I wonder if you can hook up a sega cd or 32x to the master system/megadrive one though

Hmmm, the SNES clone supports the Super FX, but what about the FX2, the DSP and the C4 and the special DSP Final Fantasy II uses?

All those chips you mentioned just do work and feed the results through. I can't see why it wouldn't be able to use them. The SNES compatibility matrix isn't nearly as fatally complex as the NES mapper one.

I'm definitely in the market for a neo snes. Mine died a few months ago when I threw in chrono trigger, haha.

How faithful are these SNES? Colors correct? Graphical glitches, etc?

I haven't tested but I have heard that the Tengen games (the funny shaped ones) won't work on these boxes

I have several copies of NES Golf for these purposes.  It is a game worth nothing and it has normal screws

I think Tengen Tetris > Nintendo Tetris hands down.

The normal SNES supports S-video. However, you have to be careful about what S-video cable you get, because those made for the N64 and Gamecube have the Chroma pin in a different place, so they will display black and white when used on a SNES.

Already know that, unlike the FC Twin you wont have to mod this one for it, which is nice for people desiring crisper video. The 2nd model Snes doesn't support it either without modification.

Also,I think you are thinking of pin 3 on Pal Snes. Composite sync is replaced with +12 on those. I have never had a issue using my N64 s-video cables with first generation Snes decks.
