Quick question, can you still use the RGB video output of the Super-Grafx when connected to the IFU-30? In other words, can you still game in RGB when playing a CD based game? I'm guessing you could still use the video out from the Super-Grafx and then grab audio from the IFU-30?

Thanks, Frank. To answer your question, I tested the composite video. With composite video from the SGX going to the TV and the stereo analog audio from the IFU to the TV, Hucards play fine with both picture and sound. But when I try to play a CD game, I get sound and a white screen. So either the video from the IFU does not travel back to the SGX or if it does the SGX does not output it. As I said earlier, I don't have an RGB-compatible display or a SCART converter/adapter to test with, but I'd guess the results would be the same.

Thanks for the response. That's a bit of a shame about not being able to play CD's via RGB. I wonder if it would work with a Super-CDROM? How does that one work, does video/audio come from the console or the Super-CDROM attachment?

I'm happy to report it does work with the "vacuum cleaner" setup. With composite going from the SuperGrafx to the TV and audio from the Super CD-ROM2 to the TV, the SCD2 does send the video signal back through to the SGX and the SGX does in turn output it to the TV.

That is great to know, thanks for reporting back.

An RGB modded Super-Grafx with Super CD-ROM2 attachment would have to be the ultimate PC Engine setup!

There is at least a quarter inch of space between the switch and the bottom of the Hucard slot, so clearance is not an issue. But I could see the switch suffering damage if someone was not careful inserting or removing a Hucard. At least it doesn't stick out the front or side of the console.

alright, i've only seen a SGX a handful of times (the two times i've gone to MGC) so i couldn't recall if the slot was all that deep.
nice setup though, but personally i would've gone with a pushbutton on the SGX, better suits the form factor, but to each his own.
