This is so awesome. I'm going to try this on my PCE Engine (which isn't that yellow, honestly) and if it goes well it will influence my eventual purchase of a CDROM IFU unit. That is, I'll not hesitate to buy a yellow one if I know I can clean it up.

Now if someone could solve the uselessness of the C64 itself!

teh SID in it alone gives it infinite raison d'ĂȘtre

best tune generator in history of video games

yes, but sadly its single volume register makes sound effects in some action games a complete mess on top of the audio.

all you hear is fldjadfguadf89gadfgkadjfgadfgj with some music behind it, rofl.

right. when i was young, i didn't really notice the fact that most games came without any FX sounds. or they just came with FXs but no BGM. anyway, 99% of the cases i just played those with BGM instead of FXs, because that was the thing,  in which the C64 was the most strong and fun giving.

3 voices were way too less, but what some of the guys have done with those 3 back then, was fricking amazing!

Yea.  I prefer games that just say "f*ck sound fx" because then the music shines alot better since theyre not sending out loud white noise pulsey blipppppppp noises for shooting a gun, on top of a good song.  The sfx almost ALWAYS overpower the tune and injure my ears.  That happened in Salamander definitely.

and, I can then add my own sfx like *pewpewpewpew* and *BAZOOOOOOM*

the SID creates a nice atmosphere for alot of the games, and if that thing wasnt present, I imagine alot of the games would be alot less memorable, and good.

Giana Sisters , Parallax, and Myth especially.

Although, myth rules either way.
