seeing that you hate AVGN and other vulgarities, despite being vulgar yourself, what are YOU a fan of comedy wise?

People who are actually funny.

Steve Martin
Bill Murray
Dan Aykroyd
John Belushi
Chris Farley (R.I.P.)
Beavis & Butt-head
King Of The Hill
Office Space
Mad About You
Bill Cosby
George Carlin
Chris Rock

That's the stuff that's real comic genius.

Dragon's Lair appreciation. Again.

People eh?  Most of those are good..but comic genius...that strikes some of that list off.

WTF?

Someone clearly stopped taking his medication.

Now I understand the other thread, though.

I've seen him review alot of games, not just Fighting Street, that are NOT bad at all.

The vast majority of titles that he has reviewed are considered by most to be worthless (or at best, mediocre); no matter how much you wish for others to share your viewpoint, games like Dragon's Lair (NES) and Fighting Street will continue to be seen as nothing more than shitty games by the vast majority of people.  Even the few 'good' games that he's panned (such as Castlevania II and TMNT) are unarguably flawed and lack the polish they deserve, and I see little wrong with exposing those faults and blowing 'em out of proportion for comic effect.

Your logic makes Spock angry.

What would he think of yours?  It seems obvious to me that MedfreeMike was bemoaning the repetitiveness of AVGN's comments, not the use of profanity.  :P

The original brain spasm he posted was about his work in general.  f*ck shitty vulgar bullf*ckery is part of that work!

That would be fantastic*.

Alternatively, I wish Billy Crystal was a big PCE/TG-16 fan and would share his thoughts on all the games he plays.

I never understood the big hoopla over AVGN- The guy has never once made me laugh.  He tries way too hard.  The games he reviews ON THEIR OWN are very amusing however.

Sometimes he makes me laugh pretty good... but sometimes he definitely seems to be trying to hard and forcing his act a little bit much to the point of becoming not funny.

I could do without the excessive profanity, which I don't find funny or entertaining - but profanity that feels genuine due to frustration with cheesy games usually cracks me up.

BTW, I feel that he's being pretty honest with his reviews of games. Castlevania II I always liked, but I can certainly see how it's not for everyone. I'm a huge fan of Street Fighter 1 (I even own an arcade Machine) but the controls in Fighting Street are no fun at all for me.

Interestingly, his experience with Street Fighter 2010 was exactly the same as mine as a kid. At first I was incredibly disappointed with it for all the same things AVGN complained about, but eventually I went back to it and cleared it. It's a really fun game once you get good at it.

CONTEXT: Historically, I have had mixed feelings towards AVGN, but ultimately I have enjoyed his stuff. Even when he is annoying, there is enough good stuff to counteract the bad.

AVGN's offerings on Swordquest and Ninja Gaiden were good and he didn't resort to the forced/contrived antics.

One thing that really sets AVGN apart from the rest of the crowd, IMO, is that he usually does a decent job incorporating a "guest star"/skit/creativity into some episodes. The Ninja from the Ninja Gaiden episode, the guy who does his theme song in Battle Toads episode, etc. etc. have all been memorable.

He has no budget, but he does an admirable job. His commentary is amusing, even if I don't always agree with it.

noone has to agree with him nor taking him serious by his words, since at the end it's all sarcasm anyway, as he also states in his disclaimer.
