I thought they included the option to play the game with a GameCube, or Classic Controller?

For the fullest N64 experience, you can even get the game bundled with a gold colored classic controller pro.

You can, but even with a gamecube or classic controller its still hard to capture the same feel.  There is a lot of customization for the controls, but here's my rub...

N64.... analog stick moves you around, c buttons strafe and look up and down.... hold R and the analog stick controls your view / crosshair...

Wii... you can set the controls exactly the same... BUT when you press R to look down your sight (crosshairs whatever)  it still uses the same scheme as before, it doesn't switch.

While I'm sure I could get used to it... I was really hoping for a game that played exactly like on N64.

For the record, I did get the special ed whatever with the golden controller lol.

On a side note.... the whole Wii Goldeneye 007 remake trying to "bring back" the feeling that was Goldeneye on N64... yeah that was total FAIL.  The Wii controls just dont do it.

it would help if the original game wasnt a pile of shit too.

Agreed, in retrospect it wasn't that great.... but at the time when I was only in 7th grade... Goldeneye seemed oh so awesome!  4 players at once?  We were hooked (we discovered Bomberman about a year later...)

I could never tolerate 007

it was sluggish, the controller sucked, you couldn't jump!

it was just bad all around.   I never understood why it was so popular.

I just played Dead Rising 2 tonight for the first time, and I really enjoyed myself.  Capcom in 2010 FTW!

It's funny, I ended up liking it years later, I used to rag on it before.  When I picked up a Pikachu N64 on the cheap @ TRU(no, I'm not a Pokemonster, I just thought it'd be funny to have a Pikachu N64:) ) I played Perfect Dark, & ended up loving that, so I got 007 cheap, & ended up enjoying that even though it wasn't as good as Perfect Dark.  And that's all considering I more or less hated FPS's at the time, I now like some FPS's, but I'm not a fanatic of them, I generally prefer 3rd person view 90% of the time if not more.  Like...the Metroid Prime games, forever I will hold that they would've been MUCH better if they were 3rd person!

RE: Goldeneye 007.

I think the draw of this game must have been a two parter. 1) you like FPS, 2) you didn't have a computer.

If you had a Windows 95 machine...I can't imagine giving a crap about Goldeneye. It was slow and blurry and brown and foggy and lame. There was a bit of an emphesis on being a good shot (as opposed to just BFGing away at people) but other than that...not very good. The 4 player thing was neet, but it was so hard to tell WTF was going on through all the blurry foggy mud that wins were almost random.

At the time my friends were all playing Duke and Quake II and...what was that FPS with all the asian stereotypes in it? That one was OK. In VGA over LAN/internet, with a mouse...there is no comparison. 007 can suck it.

I was playing quake, doom, unreal, and shit on a PC.   It was cooler than squinting at a CRT with 4 sections while 3 of my inept friends tried to play with the shitty controllers also.

the n64 is probably the shittiest mainstream console ever.

I didn't have a computer back then, so GoldenEye was my first introduction to the genre aside from Doom on the PS1 (damn fine port that one :) ) I loved it so much when it was first released. I thought the controller was awesome as well.

Edit: Actually my first FPS was Wolfenstein 3D on the Jaguar.

I just can't get myself to buy it, I have sooo many damn games to play thru, but I'll probably cave in eventually.

As for FPS's, yeah, I did used to play Unreal alot on my friends linked PC's, that was more fun multiplayer-wise, no doubt.
