Ark -EVERY gamestop employee would get fired if that was the test. There is like one or two guys in the entire company thats cool and that's about it.

That's true, but...the problem is more or less that the guy insisted he was right. He could have just said, "Oh really, there's another one? What is it?" but he didn't want his momentum interrupted.

I've encountered these over-enthusiastic EB guys before. They are, honestly, the least of my problems with that shithole franchise. The really awful guys are the ones who are the "good" employees. The ones who shill the Vender of the Month and the discount cards and stuff. In the end though, nobody lasts at this job or any mall job. They all get fired. I was fired from an EB, the district manager who fired me was later fired herself. My store manager? Fired. The store manager in the closest store? Also fired. The guy who replaced him? Fired. The only guy who didn't get fired at my store was the guy who left to become manager at another store...and was then later fired.

It doesn't matter how good/bad you are, eventually you will fail to meet ever changing goals of The Man who honestly believes you can get %3 per year more every year for all eternity. The mall is a huge collection of revolving doors. A detour on the road to real life...unless you are one of those pathetic f*ckers who actually doesn't get fired. Dang, what kind of a loser must that guy be?

I think its lame that all these pretend hardcore Kid Icarus fans have supposedly come out of the woodwork to support this game when, in fact, they had never even heard of the game/series until he showed up in Smash Bros and they read the Wiki.

I played it back in the day, liked it, and more or less forgot about it. It wasn't a horrible game, but it wasn't that great either. That's why it fell into obscurity for 20 years.
Yeah I don't like the Pitfags that showed up once Brawl came out.

Ive been a Kid Icarus loyalist since before I got my own NES when I was between 2 and 3ish

It was the first NES game my aunt and uncle let me play, and then I got my own copy with my NES and spent basically every weekend of my childhood playing it with my grandma.

So, its really annoying when all these idjuts come rambling like they know wtfs up.  They don't know shit.

I blame the "its cool to be retro" fad that has taken America by storm.  Every dope has a 1UP belt buckle, goomba wrist straps, pixely t shirts from Hot Topic, and has NFI what they're even talking about because the first console they ever got was an N64, and lets be realistic here, the N64 is retarded.

There are still gamers that don't realize Samus is a girl.  If you still think Samus is a guy, you are officially the dumbest person on the planet.

As far as GameStop goes, get this:

I was hired because all of my friends worked there.  It was like a little heaven of informed gamers.  I just started working, no interview, no application, just here, have a job lets punch you into the computer.

I'd sit on the counter, play DS, tell customers what sucked and what didn't, refuse to sell the shitty magazine (id even tell customers its a waste of money if you can access Google), and told customers our 10% off card is worthless.  They loved my honesty and would come in all the time to ask me stuff.  "Hey go ask the loud kid with the funny hair, he knows stuff" was one of the quotes in that regard.

I was proud I made our store lose the regional accessory sale contest.  We lost because I told all the customers that came in "Don't buy our shitty Gamestop branded accessories.  They blow more than a toothless hooker" ,etc, etc.

Anyway, the cool manager left and went to better things.  All the other friends I had also moved to better things and all the replacements?  Total tools.  My hours started to get cut because "you aren't getting any reserves or subscriptions"

So basically, the system at the time was: Earn hours by duping clueless customers (Aka grandparents who don't even know what a Nintendo is).   Managers can over ride the auto-alloted hours based off numbers.  The old (cool) manager did that for me since I kicked ass at organizing the store, and being legit with people.    The new tool? Nah, he just let me have 4 hours a week.  lol.   So I peaced out of that dump.

They WANT you to just reem people into buying dumb shit.  They dont care if you know alot about games, or are great with honesty.  They just want you to lie.  f*ck em.

I went home and got the gameboy one, walked back in and put it on the counter and went "You are too stupid to work at a gamestore.  Please quit".

His manager laughed at him and gave me a high five. :D   Go team Arkhan.

   Well done!

I don't know that that's entirely true, Going back a decade I can remember people mumbling about when a new Kid Icarus game would come out. Supposedly very early planning was done for a SNES "Super Kid Icarus" before Gumpei Yokoi left Nintendo. I remember talk of a GBA one that was being worked on by the team that did Metroid Fusion. Then there was talk a few years later that Factor 5 was working on a new Kid Icarus game.

The reason it fell into Obscurity for 20 years was Gumpei Yokoi who produced the first two games in the series created the Virtual Boy, was exiled from Nintendo. And died shortly thereafter.

Metroid his other major series was more popular and got revived. Kid Icarus sat for a long long time, but at various times Nintendo has worked on revivals of the series. This is just the first time it's reached the point where a sequel has been announced, and obviously this one is almost certain to come out.

It's probably been THE most requested franchise revival in all of gaming the past 15 or so years.

A kid icarus for GBA/DS would have been a great frikking idea years ago.

Instead we got gems like Metroid Prime Hunters

and by gems I mean, f*ck that game.

If my timeline is correct, he left Nintendo 10 years after Kid Icarus went on sale. I think it if was a huge hit they would have moved a little quicker than that.

...how does one keep track of such things? Also, what hasn't been revived? Something's going to be #1 most wanted, it doesn't mean its all that wanted.

Of course now it is. They could have made Blast Corps the 3DS launch game it would have sold a bajillion copies...

I am a huge Kid Icarus fan, and I think the reason a lot of people of my age (nearing 30) are, is because of Saturday morning cartoons.  Repeated marketing manufactures nostalgia.  Crossfire anyone?  I am surprised that a new game didn't come out in the NES/SNES days, just because the marketing was there to back it.

Regarding new fans to the series because of Smash Brothers?  I am glad, bring them on!  I hope that more people start to like shit that I liked as a kid so there can be more revivals.  Hopefully Scrooge McDuck is in the next Smash Brothers, and I can get another Duck Tales game!  Capcom can make it, instead of Mega Man 11.

Anyway, my 3DS preorder is largely due to Kid Icarus.  The game thankfully looks really good, and I can't wait.

Gunpei Yokoi was a genius. On his first day he invented a robotic arm toy that sold 700,000 units that subsequent Xmas

I think most of use know that story...most of us who own a Wonderswan anyway.

There has been some new shit that has come to light that sort of says that what we've though about the GY/VB/RIP connection kind of isn't all that true though.

Also, the Ultra Hand was neat but it wasn't really an "invention". You can see these things in old Three Stooges shorts.

As mentioned, much like with Gumpei Yokoi's other series Metroid. A sequel to Kid Icarus WAS made for Game Boy. It came out in 1991, about 4 years before Yokoi made the Virtual Boy which led to his demotion and leaving the company.

Just checking old lists of game magazine and website "Sequels we want to see list" seems to always turn up Kid Icarus's name. Obviously there's no clear way to measure it though.

Ahh that must be one of those Non-Turbob systems. I'll check the wiki one of these days.

Thanks for the extra link, I recognize the packaging now. My neighbor's older brother had one of those.

For some reason Gunpei has been a frequent shout topic. He's a f*cking badass.

Captain N was retahded.

Oh yeah; I watched Captain N as a kid. I couldn't afford an NES so It was f*cking awesome. Belmont was a prissy bitch, Icarus had a speech impediment that made listening to him a task. I mean, who the hell puts the work "Icarus" after the end of every f*cking sentence!?!? Megaman was also impressively retarded.

Cap N was sooooo lame. But it was better than watching Monday Night Football.

The h8rs gon' h8.
