Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).
Dead Moon just plain kicks ass. It has some of the best level progressions in any shooter.
I'm not sure what it is exactly. The game just has this overly simplistic feel to it. I own over 75 shooter titles, and it's easily my favorite genre, but I have always disliked Dead Moon.
There are tons of weapons powerups in Dead Moon. So many it's almost a fault. Once you get a weapon you like, it's nearly impossible not to touch another powerup that switches your weapon.
Well Hudson made a liar out of me. : )They pushed back World Sports Competition to June and in its' place stuck the extremely mediocre but quite humorous JJ & Jeff. And the lineup for June is now Bloody Wolf, Dead Moon, China Warrior, and World Sports Competition. What happened to Air Zonk and Neutopia is beyond me. I know they had emulation problems with Neutopia and Air Zonk before the Japanese releases, but I thought those were corrected once the games were released in Japan. Apparently not. Dissapointing month for the VC, and makes me glad I have the real system.Sorry for posting inaccurate information. I'm not going to post from that source anymore. He tells me that Hudson just decided to make the change but I have no way or knowing which is true.
Yeah tastes do vary. I like my shooters manic and intense, ala Soukyugurentai or Battle Garegga on the Saturn. The harder and crazier the better.
