Not sure if this is bad or gouging.. or a bit of both.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Turbo-GRAFX-16-Original-CASE-SPINE-LABELS-Lot-of-16-Vintage-Splatterhouse-/111882178587?hash=item1a0cb2901b:g:u~0AAOSwa-dWobUo

Kinda made me sick, though. Why would someone do this?

Also, the guy selling this.. didn't he join here a bit ago?

*looks*

This guy?

I found it amusing that he is selling manuals and loose cards alongside the lot of butchered labels.  I am surprised to not see the manual pages and staples separated out and listed individually as well.  Maximize those monies! :D

So... what you're saying is that the next time I get a manual with rusty staples, that I should save them to sale on the bays when I swap them out for new, shiney staples? Instead of discarding them like common trash? lol

Also, who else does this? Ya know, swapping out staples? Is it just me? Am I crazy?

Honestly the thought has never even occurred to me.  This may not be the place for this but what would be the benefits?  I'm guessing rusty staples can deteriorate paper over time?

yep, that's me.  Tbh, i needed the cases for other games.  bought a huge lot of empty vintage cases  but didn't want to throw the labels away.  that would make me kinda sick.  so i offered them up. didn't put them on here since you all probably have those repros.

I just don't like the idea of having to be careful and avoid gross rust dust and what-have-you every time I open an old manual. So, yeah. Also, maybe wrecks the paper and by that I mean totally probably, yes. Maybe.

That's cool, but you should totally understand that by removing them in the first place you've made the labels pretty much worthless.

Would you consider sleeping with me, just once, if I were to purchase your labels?

worthless to you, but maybe for a new collector that wants a vintage Bonk's Revenge spine label, maybe it's worth it.

oh, and sure. you don't even have to buy one.  ;)

Long post to make amends... :)

I grew up in Bloomfield (next to Newark) and love NJ/NY. I moved out to LA/Long Beach California area for grad school...ended up staying a lot longer (9 years) before moving back to NJ.

I briefly worked at a corporate park in Mount Olive/Budd Lake...it must have been just off of RT 80 (I'll have to look at a map) and ...I am pretty sure Chester wasn't too far away.

Ha! I'll figure it out. Now I'm curious exactly where it was :)

-------

Anyway...those poor, shriveled, desiccated, brittle labels...I honestly thought that you "harvested" them with the intent to squeeze every penny possible out of corpses.

It seemed so absurd, and so desperate.

Now, if you made some artwork with those labels...simply framing them, for example, I'd think it was actually kool. In fact, the fact that the labels are so distressed and abused makes them intriguing aesthetically.

My dad, who was a "connoisseur"  (actually, just a fancy alcoholic), would soak labels off of bottles and dry them out (for record-keeping). I thought the wrinkled labels were fascinating. And disturbing (akin to wrinkled, dry skin).

I guess I like the creepy element of deterioration.

Unfortunately, now I am concerned that you are skinning helpless video games.

Even worse, I'm the one who would make grotesque "trophies" with the skin.

:(

Oh boy, those labels look like shit. Too bad.

Sorry pal, but if this is true, then it is irrational. I'm sure it would have been so much easier to sell the cases with the labels still attached, instead of seperating them apart.
And I'm right, since you tell us that you have bought them from another seller.

Ouch those poor labels.... I think I saw a post about these in the Facebook group as well.. . I once came across some cases I didn't need as well... But I left them on the cases before I decided to trade them... Better luck next time sir
