Necro and I were talking about this.  It appears to be the fan version so it would have been one of those with a white case and notched spots in the sleeve to hold it in place so it's really weird. 

He has the hu, has the manual, he even has the right sleeve.  But somehow his misplaced the back of the case?  Weiiirdness.
