Playstation 2 has probably the greatest library of games of all time, how can you hate the PS2?  By that logic you must absolutely loathe the N64, Gamecube and Wii.

I f*cking hate rationalizing, but he's got a point.  More kids die each year playing little league baseball than guys drowning while King Crabbing in Alaska.  Which is most likely to kill you?

Who cares about that? You only play the good games. 95% of the game library always sucks, regardless of console, and when the game library consists of 100 games (Mega-CD) or 5000 games (PS2), I'd say the PS2 is sliiiiiiiightly better.

Personally I'll take Sega CD over PS2 anyday as PS2 games have never really appealed to me. I do love the Sega Ages remake of Fantasy Zone though!

I never understood "this console sucks" "this console rocks"  I've always thrown those comments into the land of Fan-boyism. 

There will always be the obvious hardware configuration differences.  Like the loser that accausted my father and I while looking at the PS3 demo.  "sony lied, the refresh rate of true 1080P is 60MHz and the PS3 is only 20MHz."  The guy walked away and my dad and I shared a SGI joke from the early 90's.  (Silicon Graphics machines).

Games make the system, Period.  Regardless of system cost, configuration, and controller interface.  The way companies market and distribute games on their corresponding systems always leaves something to be desired (for more info, read up on a system called the TURBO GRAFX-16).

There is a game for just about every major console release that I love (yet the TG-16 will always be #1 in my heart) and everyone should play.  A gamer should embrace all things gaming, yes - even be tolerant of sports games.  If you disallow yourself to play a game because "it's on a console I hate" then Babbette, (you need to) get a clue!  You're not a gamer, you're a straight up blind loyalist.

Again, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I encourage all to share them. I'm just trying to help people from looking ig-nant when they do it.

No I was talking to the guy who hated anything Sony because there is a lot of crap on those systems.  When you have a system like the Ps2 with 1000+ games you're going to have a way higher number of crap games, but you're also going to have TONS more good games since everybody makes games for it.  The PS2 has more quality titles than probably any other console ever released, I mean there's just so much variety with RPGs, shooters, 2D fighers, everything you could possibly think of.  I just can't fathom someone hating the PS2 and being able to love any other system, it seems like the PS2 would be the one system that everybody could agree rules.

Me, I can't stand systems that have tons of games that are mostly garbage. I want to be able to pick up a random game off the shelf and have the chances be good that it will be enjoyable.

This is not the case with systems like the CD-i, 2600, and everything that has ever carried the 'playstation' name. therefore I hate them. (except for the 2600, because the games are so cheap by now the quality to quantity ratio is irrelevant.

So don't buy every game for the system - problem solved.  If you only stock your shelves with quality games, you'll always pick a good one.  Admittedly, this will be nearly impossible to do with a CD-I (even with an extremely small shelf).

What everybody means when they say "bad console" is actually the software library available for said console. Ignore the hardware, it's all about the games. The Mega-CD game library sucks, and therefore it is on this list. While there are a handful of Mega-CD games worth playing, it does qualify for this list.

I agree that fanboyism is stupid, but that's just how people work. They will favor what they have themselves, and at least in some cases, diss what they don't.

Unfortunately, most of the good games never get to the budget bin, which is where I buy most of my games. So, to me, the good:crap ratio does matter.

Its not that there aren't good games for it; I worship the ground beneath Katamari Damacy. But that's the problem; With the exception of KD, it's so mainstream it doesn't get the odd niche titles. Also, it doesn't have the first party titles I care about, like the Dreamcast and Gamecube did.

Also, I'm still a little pissed about the DC going away, so I'm still holding a grudge against Sony for that. If that makes me a fanboy, fine. I'm perfectly satisfied as a gamer without owning a playstation.

Dude, it's the PS2 that GETS the niche titles. There are TONS of them! Looks like you don't know anything about the PS2. Get one today.

Only slightly less annoying to me than fan boyism, "I only like niche, unknown, obscure games."  But don't get in that rut simple because of the price!  It' also been my experience your Valkyrie Profiles, Vagrant Stories, Orge Tactics, and other gems are more expensive in the used market.

I hear you though about the cost of games.  To compensate, I've befriended the local gamestop boys and it's handy getting first dibs at used titles (I'm Turbo-Dude).  That's the only way I can roll with the current systems, USED.  Money's not the issue, it's just the principle.  It sucks not playing Final Fanstasy XUIOH:KLJCCXXIII when everyone else is, but in a year us budget minded gamers can enjoy it.

I did I just call myself budget minded?? I just dropped $30 on Air Zonk!
